Hummingbird, Nectaring from Flowers

Date: 09/18/2016

Number: 12

I have set up 4 fall nectar feeders for the travellers at the end of August. I think the adult males were already gone, will set them out earlier next year, but like to wait to avoid the glut of yellow jackets etc. I have a pair on either side of the house. There are also extensive pollinator/native/hybrid flower borders on both sides of the home. The hummingbirds are working over the last of flowers - hosta, Holly hock, jewel weed, foxglove but primarily feeders now. Very busy. Butterflies and multiple bee species are working over sedum, various asters, anise hyssop, butterfly bush, zinnia, etc. In the heavy rain, the hummingbirds are sitting on a clothesline under the deck between clothespins, wished I had a camera! So cool.
