Small guests continue to drift into our habit where the red flags are flying. This morning it was 44 degrees and I delivered warm nectar to the feeders that were being used--by four small guests. As the day warmed up they deferred to Black and Blue Salvia, Purple Prince Zinnias and Vermillionaire Cuphea. This evening I saw only 1 hummingbird enjoying the plethora of Black and Blue Salvia that she shared with only a bumblebee for company. My late migrators spend most of their time nectaring in the flowers vs visiting the nectar feeders. In the evening, the feeders generally recieve a burst of activity 15-30 minutes before it becomes dark.
