Today was a beautiful sunny autumn day with daytime temps in the low 70's and a north wind @ 10 mph and I finally spotted 211 monarchs migrating and roosting. Although I observed from 1pm to 7 pm, the majority of the monarchs arrived from 3 - 6 pm in time to roost and snuggle in for the night. They looked very healthy. Approximately 15% of the golden rod in the immediate area was blooming, although a few miles away the golden rod is plentiful. Night time temps are expected to be in the mid 50's. The monarchs are a welcome and amazing sight.
