While vacationing for one week in the Adirondack region of New York, I was on the look out for monarchs, but saw none until September 25. It was a warm sunny afternoon and the monarch was flitting about on the gravel road to our camp site. I was not able to get a photo. Not a lot of golden rod fields in open areas, but I did see some woodland goldenrod species in the area where I saw the monarch.
