I should have taken a photo. I've only lived here a year and was blown away by the sight of them. Was out on my deck today enjoying the sun and literally thousands of them flew across our property. A beautiful site. I didn't time it (maybe for an hour) but when my sister asked for a photo it was too late. They were gone for now. This also happened a few days back before the rain. I'll be watching and waiting for more...hoping to get a photo.
Editor's Note: Based on the high number of butterflies seen, their rapid flight, and location in Texas, the butterflies sighted were probably snouts. That species is exhibiting a large migration this fall.
