Hummingbird Sighting

Date: 09/29/2016

Number: 2

Two ruby throat juveniles on feeders today. My black and blue salvia blossoms are very popular with them also. I am still seeing the hummers daily but these are migrants--they often come in very hungry and apparently tired--some will feed for long periods and then take a nap--often on the feeders' perches.
Most do not stay for the whole day unless, like today, the weather is poor.
Heavy, low cloud cover with drizzle to heavy rain periods, winds from south to south east with light breezes to windy depending on storm, low 63, currently 72 F. Over 2" already in rain gauge since midnight (only 1 pm now--radar shows more heavy rain coming late in afternoon.)
Tomorrow forecast is for more rain but mostly light to moderate, temps about the same.
