We have been seeing both male and female rubythroats for at least two weeks. First just the males came, then followed by the females.
We have two 6-8' bushes of coral Porterweed, and another huge orange tubular flowered hummingbird bush. The birds adore these bushes; so much so that until today I haven't done nectar; however the little females are hovering in the area we had feeders last spring, so I will hang the newly-made sugar water. They are so thrilling to watch.
