Oct 1st, 2016 1:30-3:30 pm Mostly sunny 20°c While at Point Pelee National Park upon arrival first at the Marsh Boardwalk observed
3 monarchs separately at the in directional flight south over marsh to Tip (in collage)
An hr later at the Tip area observed many monarchs, at least 50 arrive from the north on calm west side, moderately windy east side & from above tree tops flitting south to the Tip. One or two at a time ventured out over Lake Erie but half returned due to the moderate SE wind. Also observed one nectaring on Asters.
Returned in the evening with hopes of locating a roost to no avail. Saw 1 lone monarch nectaring on asters near Tip.
Additional info- At least 3 persons reported seeing monarchs throughout the county (Oct 1st) in directional flight south.
