Monarch Adult Sighted

Date: 10/05/2016

Number: 7

I returned to Heritage Park about one week after I observed Peak Monarch Migration there on September 27. I saw less than 10% of the Monarchs that I saw on September 27 (74 at peak vs 7 today). Although there were plenty of flowers (aster, wild sunflowers, thistle, etc) in the pollinator fields and prairie restoration areas, the Monarchs were not interested in nectaring. They were flying high and fast. Weather was sunny with temp of 74 degrees. I walked and observed for 78 minutes.
