2 chrysalides, both pupated normally, & about their eclose date starting turning black and even though the orange on the wings was showing, never eclosed. Both chrysalides, as well as 2 4th instar cats that suddenly quit eating and died, were taken to Randolph College ornithology lab in Lynchburg Virginia, for the students to dissect and study. My theory on the cats was that it was poor quality end of season, common milkweed that they were own and when I noticed they were not thriving put them on silky gold tropical milkweed that was extremely rank and green. The cats went back to eating, however they both vomited, and then died. This trip to the RC ornithology lab took place approximately a week ago. I have been promised that when they find out what caused the death of these insects they will contact me
