This morning, I saw 3 monarchs flying around a tropical milkweed patch in the demonstration gardens at the Mueller development in north central Austin. One female, unfortunately, was laying eggs on the milkweed, so I doubt she will make it to Mexico. I have been seeing between 1 and 6 migrating monarchs each day for a couple of weeks flying through different parts of central Austin. Last Friday, while waiting for a bus on the UT campus along busy Guadalupe St., I saw 4 monarchs passing overhead about 5 minutes apart heading southwest along the same trajectory. Winds were from the north that day.
