Observed an increase in monarchs beginning 9-26 feeding on zinnias and lantana throughout the week. Noticed sharp increase in monarchs observed on Saturday October 1. I counted at least 30, but I was out driving in OKC area throughout day so the fact that I was mobile may have increased my sightings. Sunday was another day with multiple observations but sightings have dramatically decreased this week. I have a few in the yard each day along with other types of butterflies.
After noting the significant decrease since Sunday I believe we hit peak over the weekend. Perhaps we will have another peak again?
