Visited the park at the Tip between 2:30 & 3:30 pm. Observed 30 monarchs; 18 were intensely nectaring on asters; 6 flitted out over Lake Erie continuing their journey south & the latter part of the hour observed 5 arrivals from the north fluttering south toward the Tip, plus one near the Visitor Center.
22°c at arrival -24°c upon departure. Light to moderate SE wind, calm west side. Going back into the park to see how many may roost...cold front coming in overnight & both Saturday & Sunday the northerly wind should bring more in however being their most favorable wind they will also head south over the lake.
Returned to Tip at 5:45-7:30. Only 10 monarchs seen; 7 intensely nectaring on asters near Tip & 3 doing same north of Tip Restrooms.
