Monarchs in the morning,(12) were seen basking in sun &/or shivering to warm themselves prior to crossing Lake Erie; did observe monarchs without hesitation fluttering south out over the lake. A few were also seen nectaring on Short's Asters. The majority of the 300 in last night's roost had already dispersed.
Mid afternoon 6 were seen arriving from the north to the TIP area.
By evening only 2 were seen; 6:30 pm one flitted about the trees at the Tip. No roosts were located. 7:30 pm almost a 1/2 hr after sunset, observed one arrive from the north, enter from the west side of Tip parking lot area & flutter south above treetops to interior trees.

INTERESTING POINTS - Monarchs in the sun left their clusters by 8:30 am at 6°c/43°f without windchill &....we have observed monarchs arrive up to 15 mins past sunset however this one arrived 27 mins past sunset, clear skies @12°c/53°f.
