Hopkins Family Gardens, two bright, new females spotted nectaring on common thistle flowers as most of the gardens were already frosted out, wilted, dried, and brown except for a few poor condition marigolds and zinnias. One butterfly was very tiny but perfect. They'd better get a move on their journey south. Temperature during the encounter was 71 with a brisk 15 mph wind out of the WNW. Photo is of the tiny female flying by Nine Mile Creek at 3:07 pm.
