Monarch Larva Sighted
Sightings report image

Date: 10/12/2016

Number: 1

This is the same, last, lone larva in my garden that I reported last week. This is just a status update to report that it is growing daily and has survived two very chilly nights. I cheated a little on those nights by wrapping a clear plastic bag over the leaf it was feeding on (and about to fall off) along with two nearby green leaves. Poked a few holes in the bag for air and loosely bound my makeshift "thermal retainer" and found the the next evening after work happily feeding inside, in full sud at the time, on both evenings (~4:30PM EDT.
