Monarch larva on Asclepias asperula (Antelope Horns). One 5th instar that had just molted. Cast skin still clinging. Black on head has not yet turned black. Also look at legs and prolegs.

Photo was rotated 90 deg CCW. It was actually head toward the ground.

In a small area near our house where milkweed has re-emerged with recent rain. Queen larvae also present.
