Monarch Adult Sighted
Sightings report image

Date: 10/08/2016

Number: 200

When I surveyed starting at 1500, spread out through Liatris throughout property. Most on Liatris that is growing in tall native grass, which makes counting at a distance problematic. Because they were spread fairly uniformly I did use directly observed as a sample to conservatively scale up to the reported number.

No obvious directional flight.

The photo likely has at least five Monarchs in frame but the only one visible is the one that happened to open its wings when it was visible through a gap.
