Monarch Adult Sighted
Sightings report image

Date: 10/10/2016

Number: 90

Fewer than yesterday.

Starting at 1530 did the loop. Total est. 70 Of those 32 were in tree groves, in shade and out of wind. Active. Saw a couple fly out toward Liatris. The rest were on Liatris or occasionally other flowers. The photo is one on a Maximilian sunflower, which are abundant, but Monarchs seem to prefer Liatris over everything else.

At 2000 (well after sunset) did one more loop. 20 total in tree groves, inactive but widely spread. Most were singles. None at all anywhere else using headlights and spotlight.
