Monarch Adult Sighted
Sightings report image

Date: 10/16/2016

Number: 7

Spotted 3 yesterday feeding on the butterfly bush.

Weather yesterday was cloudy south wind and 72 degrees.

Currently we have 4 healthy monarches eating on zinnias and the butterfly bush.

Sunny 73 degrees strong south winds at 15-20. They are content eating away as they are not bothered by the wind.

It is so surprising to see monarches this late into October. We had our 1st frost last week. I do wonder if the above milder temps in September and October extended the mating season for this last generation. Our butterfly garden still is in full bloom with no signs of dying anytime soon.

Hopefully this is a good sign of elevated population counts in Mexico this winter.
