We saw two adults in our garden on September 22, this year. We have had a small patch of volunteer common butterfly weed beside our driveway for four years. This is the second year that we've spotted monarchs here. This year we've watched six caterpillars and found two chrysalises. The second of the two emerged this morning and is currently drying! Last year, about this same time, we found six chrysalis and all six emerged and flew away.
