I came home from work midday to see a female monarch at the flowers. Incredible warm weather continues with maple leaves as orange as the monarch showing in the background. Yesterday I reported one monarch but within an hour there were three. Today, within a half hour of watching the monarch, a leaf floating around in the air high overhead caught my eye. It was a second monarch. He circled the yard from the height, then came down to the flower with the first monarch on it. They greeted and fluttered up in a column together before parting and going to separate flowers for prolonged feeding. The flowers will last until frost and still there is no frost in sight.
