Even though we have 3 feeders out with fresh nectar (1:3 sugar to water), the hummers are totally ignorning the feeders on the deck (that were fought over all summer), and sit on the swing under the one by the front porch, but DO NOT drink the nectar - only feed on the nectar in the salvia flowers.
The past week, we've seen several different ruby throats in this one place - males and females - stay a day or two, then are replaced by a different bird.
Obviously, these are migrants. Our hummers that bred in the neighborhood left a couple of weeks ago.
