Monarch PEAK Migration

Date: 10/20/2016

Number: 100

The winds are coming from the north at about 17 mph. Just counted 100 from 1500-1530. Most of the count was through my swarovski binoculars against white clouds. Some with naked eye. They are traveling FAST about 100 feet up. They were mixed in with some black ones - I think they were pipevine swallowtails - at least that's what they looked like to me. There was no confusion on the monarchs as they were bigger and more steady - markings and color were clear.
