Monarch Adult Sighted

Date: 10/16/2016

Number: 2

Finally, 2 adult females arrived in my yard on Sunday 10/16, over 5 weeks later than last year. (Last year I collected 7-8 eggs in late August and raised the larvae to adulthood) They nectared on buddleia and asclepias for several hours although I didn't witness any egg-laying. I have not found eggs or larvae or evidence of them eating the milkweed either. They returned the next day and nectared on same flowers again for hours. By Tuesday they were gone. I saw 1 female on Thurs 10/20 on buddleia. Temps in mid 80s, sunny, light breeze.
