We're still seeing lots of caterpillars at Ulistac.org in Santa Clara from 2nd & 3rd instar to 5th instar. The weather has been very mild with one day reaching 80 for a high. I didn't see this many caterpillars last year. I'm also not seeing any wasps so that may be helping reduce predation of the caterpillars.
