I didn't notice a tag on this Monarch, but it was a relatively warm afternoon and it was taking advantage of the blossoms left in my yard. It started feeding on the Tropical MW and worked it's way around the yard to my butterfly bush. We've had front previous to this, and very few natural flowers are left. The goldenrod and wild asters had mostly died. Since then, we had our first hard freeze last night for the entire state, with another expected tonight. I worry about nectar sources for any others coming along. I have 2 females that emerged yesterday, and am hoping to release them when the weather warms up. I've never had any butterflies which I've raised released past 10/12, but found 2 eggs in mid-September for the first time. Previously have found the last eggs laid over Labor Day Weekend, but never later than that. Our warm September weather brought me a couple unexpected surprises. Pray they find nectar sources when I can release them.
