We planted the red Empire Tulip Bulbs, along with some garlic because we found it in the cupboard, in a raised bed garden (we call it our school's bow). The garden is located on the south side of our building. Although we live in Alaska, we do not think the bulbs will freeze even though they are in a raised bed because we live in a temperate climate and it does not get very cold here. There is no shade in the front of our building and the bulbs will get the best sun to keep them warm. We know the bulbs will get enough rain because we live in the Tongass National Forest. The Tongass is the largest National Forest in the United States and a temperate rain forest. We hope our tulips are big and red and that our garlic tastes good.
