Sightings report image

Date: 11/11/2016

Number: 40

We have observed around 200 butterflies feeding on Lantana and Bottlebrush for the last several days. I'm curious as to why they are still here. Of those, probably 40-50 were Monarchs. I looked again this morning (11/13/16) and there are only 50 or so butterflies remaining. I counted 8 Monarchs, the rest are Queens, Viceroys and Swallowtails.

Editor's note: One of the butterflies pictured here is a monarch and the other is a queen, a close relative of the monarch.
