Hummingbird Sighting (Adult Male)

Date: 12/01/2016

Number: 1

The same adult, male Broad-billed hummingbird has been coming since 11/13. I really thought he would have moved on by now. Insects, Salvia 'Love & Wishes'- 2 Plants in large pots, Salvia Ember's Wish 4 plants total, our very mature, large Amistad, and our 2 large Purple Dwarf Salvia leucantha & 2 small ones have sustained him in our yard. He has refused all feeder's. I even took a hamster bottle & painted the tube part a non-toxic purple paint color since he prefers the purple & blue colored blossom's. It looks like he will either have to fly & try to make it non-stop to Mexico or freeze soon. I am worried about the little guy as Wed. the low is suppose to be 26 degree's, the Thursday low is expected to be 21-22 degree's & then Friday the low is suppose to be 30 degree's. That will take out what little blooms I still have and I assume all insects. If he would at least eat from my feeder's I might not be so concerned. If anyone has any idea's please let me know.
