Hummingbird Sighting
Sightings report image

Date: 12/27/2016

Number: 5

I'm seeing around five hummers at my 3 remaining feeders. Most are female Rufous. One is a full blown male Rufous and one appears to be an adult male Broad-tailed. I added a feeder to attract Orioles. I normally see them April to September but on 12 January 2007 saw one at a suet block. The feeder I added is in the pix - grape jelly, an orange and filled with nectar. It attracted a hummer for a few days and then the bee hordes arrived. If you look closely, you'll see the nectar is full of dead bees - it has large ports for the Orioles.
