I thought the hummingbirds I've been seeing were ruby-throated because when the sun hits just right, their throats are a beautiful crimson color. However, I recently met a neighbor who also feeds hummingbirds and she told me the Anna hummingbirds stay around all winter. This has been a very cold winter for WA. Lots of days with freezing temps.
