This was my very first sighting of a majestic Bald Eagle in the wild. I saw the bird perched on the ground by Shaw Highway, close to Lillington Road, NW. At first, I assumed it was a buzzard, but, as my vehicle approached, it immediately flew across the road, (directly in front my vehicle), and into a large natural area that is privately owned. Surprisingly, there was no doubt that it was a Bald Eagle. (I tried to mark the sighting as close as poss.: Lat. 34.496198 / Long. -77.82045.) Of course, since the sighting, I continue to look up, just in case I am lucky enough to see him/her again.
