This isn't the first date I've seen large groups of robins, but I hadn't noted the earlier observations. We've had many mild days this winter and the robins seem to be able to find food. (I don't think these are the "first arrivals." Those seem to be single birds.) Other early signs of spring you didn't ask for: I've heard woodpeckers drumming for about a month, starting on New Year's Day, and mourning doves can occasionally be seen
