My husband and I just came back from a trip to Valle de Bravo in Mexico. I have been waiting for years to see the Monarchs in their winter place. We drove with friends. It is very important to know that a few hundred meters before reaching the Santuary there are the parking places with offers of horse rides that ARE NOT part of the sanctuary which we didn't know, and we hired a so called guide and horse that took us to see the butterflies roosting. What really upset us is that we came down via truck (from the same people that rent the horses at the entrance) and the driver , a man called Miguel, once the road was reached and we were getting near the parking to the Santuario drove carelessly too fast. At least two butterflies crashed against us. I did complain but perhaps you can bring more awareness not to do that. It was my dream come true to see the beautiful Monarchs in their home in Mexico. But sadden me to see them killed like that
