Robin (First SEEN)

Date: 02/21/2017

Number: 1

Though robins are here throughout the winter, today is the first day this season I have heard a real male robin song. Male juncos are singing as well . . . hopeful signs after a rough winter! I would say the robin song I heard was a tentative short effort by a male to do a true spring song. Either practicing or becoming stimulated by longer and stronger spring light.

Editor's note: We have moved this report to Robin (FIRST Seen) since the robin was "tuning up" as hormone level rise rather than proclaiming territory which is meant to drove off other robins and a prelude to nesting.
