Reporting from Virginia Living Museum, AKA Monarch Waystation #271, the first blooms of witch hazel were seen today as I walked through the Conservation Garden on the way to the Education Center. I'd checked on them last on the 16th and they were tightly packed. I noticed some spent maple tree blooms on the boardwalk as well. The maples have been blooming for a bit already, don't remember when I first noticed.
By the way, there's a Google map error: the museum's paw print caption has drifted upstream north and east away from the Museum's actual location on the map next to Deer Park Lake. Just noticed that. Funny!
