The last two winters we have had robins overwintering here. They show up about January. Some nights it gets as cold as -30C but they seem to survive somehow.
They gather in our backyard at dusk and dawn in the crabapple tree and the birch at the back. They roost overnight in the back cedar hedges. The seem to be feeding along the edge of the house. We are suspecting there must be a warm spot there where they can feed.
Once the weather gets consistently warmer they disperse and they stop gathering in the trees.
This has been going on since January 5.
