Robin (First HEARD singing)

Date: 03/10/2017

Number: 5

While our Robins have been doing the "peek" & some doing the "tut" & the whinny vocals have been everyday; Today I heard the Song as the # 1 on the list of songs. I think this one use to be called the "True Song" last year. I heard him inside the house & opened our door to just stand there & listen. I also heard another male Robin further away (streets away) doing the same song. They have been taking their time just searching for worms doing other songs & taking baths. When they cannot the worms I have a male. (He seems to be the leader of the "pack" when they come back & he usu. picks our yard or our neighbor's yard for his territory). But he always is the 1st to come to the tray feeder & once he is paired up he will let the female come to the feeder. The male Robin is already coming to tray feeder to eat the homemade peanut butter suet. Our weather is still cool(in high 30's to high 40's during the night) and day temps from 50's to 60's with an occasional high in the mid to upper 70's & even 80-82 but doesn't stay there. The worms don't know whether to surface or not, nor do the plants know what to do. The trees & shrubs are putting out on the warm days but stop when the temps. drop. The male cardinals have been singing for weeks & I have a male cardinal feeding a female. I hear baby birds during the day already. I hope they are the good songbirds & not the dreaded House Sparrows(I trap those when the numbers are too high (as my neighbors breed them on purpose) Nice to hear the Robin song again.
