Ice-Out

Date: 03/06/2017

Number: 1

All but one of the lakes in our area experienced record early 2017 ice out, and this one, Madison Lake, was the last to go ironicly the day MN DNR required removal of overnight ice fishing shelters for season.
A week later they started full RE-FREEZE for first time in 35 years, resort records show. Madison, east of Mankato in Blue Earth County, was first to return to winter status.
Tiny Fish Lake in LeSueur county has not yet gone ice free for this season. It is a very deep clear wildlife status lake with wild rice, birches and bullfrogs surrounded by the Sakatah Singing Hills.
