Red-winged Blackbird (FIRST sighted)

Date: 03/05/2017

Number: 1

A flock of "four and twenty (Red-Winged and"plain") Blackbirds" (with a few Grackles and Starlings "thrown in") has been ravenously feeding on peanuts and sunflower seeds (in a frenzy of hunger)several times a day since the week of March 5. I had heard them singing in the woods conservancy across the street a about 10 days prior to that. Glad to feed them, but they did crowd out most of my regular customers (White and also Red Breasted Nuthatches,Titmice, Chickadees, and three kinds of Woodpeckers). The FLOCK appears to have moved on today (March 17)..
