Monarch Adult (FIRST sighted)

Date: 03/18/2017

Number: 1

I was at the dam at Waurika Lake on Sat March 18th. Had one monarch butterfly as well as one goatweed leafwing butterfly, one gray hairstreak, and one variegated fritillary that was very worn. Also had several southern dogface, common buckeyes and red admirals flitting about. Unfortunately my camera was in my car. The monarch passed by fairly close to me and I did not need to use my binoculars to identify it. It did not stop to nectar on the henbit that was present. There were also several other species of butterflies besides the above that I did not take the time to identify. address is the ranger station by the dam.
