Tulips EMERGED
Sightings report image

Date: 03/12/2017

Number: 1

Staff observer at the Virginia Living Museum reports that the first Journey North tulips planted in the museum's Children's Learning Garden by Bo Baker's class of 6-8 year-old students emerged sometime between the 8th and 16th of March today. The Children’s Learning Garden began with Journey North tulips planted in Fall 1998. Our average date of emergence from the first 19 years of data is February 5-6. One tulip that Bo planted himself AFTER his class finished planting emerged very close to the average date but his class's tulips and the rest that he planted earlier emerged several weeks later than average. Have no clue why, really!
