I went down into the pasture for a short while around 10am. It was about 72 degrees F, partly cloudy, with strong winds SSE 15mph, and around 63% humidity. It was lovely! I spotted a faded female monarch looking and looking for milkweed (where it had been last year), but it really had not come up in that area yet ... or so I thought. I followed her on this mission for quite some time, just enjoying her, but not thinking she would find milkweed here. But she did! I managed to get my camera in gear and took a quick photo as she proceeded to find several new fresh small milkweed just emerging to lay some eggs on. Success! And then a male monarch came out of nowhere and chased her all around ~ they went whirling and weaving through some trees, until I could not see them anymore. I was glad I had this one photo of her as she proved me wrong!
