While fishing on the Little Red River, Judsonia, Arkansas. The monarch was flying just offshore, looking fresh & un-tattered, more of a yellowish orange. I don't know if that's considered "bright" or faded orange. I did not see the tails of a Tiger Swallowtail. Nor have I seen other butterflies or moths, tho we've had at least 3 weeks of various hatches: crane flies, midges, mosquitos, etc. During those 3 weeks, it's been 70-80F with some good rains [2 nearby tornados] . Early in that period, temps dipped into 40-50F overnite.
Milkweed is not up. Tulips blooming, as are the Eastern Redbud trees & Squaw Weed. Crocus & daffodils are finished.
