Sightings report image

There had been thunderstorms earlier in the morning, but now at 11am it was lovely to be out. It was around 68 degrees F, cloudy, breezy ESE 9 mph, and humidity of 90%. I was looking at some milkweed plants in the bottomland seeing the growing larvae, when I saw a female monarch begin to look for milkweed. (I also saw a male flying, but I will give his information in a separate report.) She was very active in egg-laying, but was taking rest breaks as well. It seemed when the sun came out from behind the clouds she went milkweed hunting, but when it was overcast again she rested in the grass. She was particularly faded and her wings were very distinctive. This is a photo of her laying an egg on a fresh milkweed.
