Lake Kampeska near Watertown, South Dakota
"Roger Foote, of the Upper Big Sioux Watershed Project, officially called ice out on the lake Wednesday morning. While some ice may still be seen on the lake in different areas, Foote said it’s substantially open water and good enough to call the ice out."
"This year’s ice out came six days later than last year. The earliest ice out on record came on March 8 of 2000 and the latest ice out occurred on May 8 of 2013.
Going back the prior couple of years, ice out occurred on April 16 of 2014 and March 29 of 2015."
ed. note: a previous report of ice out here is likely due to a re-freezing of the lake, a not uncommon occurrence this year!
