This is a follow-up photo showing one of the male monarchs nectaring intensely from a yellow thistle. He dug into this prickly nectar fountain for more than 5 minutes. It was almost sunset, so he was getting his fill for the cool night ahead. These thistles are very important nectar sources for the monarchs.
