First male calliope of 2017 visited the feeder at 08.00 today, 11 days later than in 2016. Drank for 20 sec, flew eastward toward mountains, and has not returned. Due to the late Spring this year, there is little bush or tree budding, no ground flowers, few tree flowers (dogwood is out) and few insects at lake level. In other words, the late Spring is offering little for hummingbird shelter, nectar or food on this date.
