Monarch Adult (FIRST sighted)

Date: 04/10/2017

Number: 1

Saw the first Monarch of the season. I saw another Monarch yesterday evening (April 13) in my swamp milkweed patch. It looked like this butterfly was trying to find a spot to lay eggs. It would light on the emerging swamp and common milkweed then fly off only to return to other emerging milkweed plants. The butterfly did not go to the blooming celandine poppies or the Solomon seal, which is in full bloom, nor any other plants that are blooming. it seemed to have one goal.
